The Makers
Artisan Stories
Meet the makers, materials, and stories behind Safara. Every product in our collection carries the mark of skilled hands and meaningful heritage.

Beadwork · KwaZulu-Natal
Nomsa Dlamini
Working through beadwork traditions passed down across generations, Nomsa brings colour, rhythm, and meaning into each piece. Her necklaces and bracelets carry the visual language of Zulu heritage, reimagined for contemporary wear.

Weaving · Eastern Cape
Thandiwe Moyo
Thandiwe learned to weave from her grandmother, and today she leads a cooperative of twelve women producing handwoven baskets, table runners, and home textiles. Her work bridges tradition and modern design.

Leatherwork · Gauteng
Sipho Mkhize
Sipho's leather studio in Johannesburg produces some of Safara's most treasured pieces — from tote bags to passport holders. Each item is hand-cut, hand-stitched, and finished with techniques he refined over two decades.

Ceramics · Limpopo
Lindiwe Nkosi
Lindiwe shapes stoneware with a deep respect for the earth it comes from. Her bowls and vessels feature organic glazes and patterns inspired by the landscapes of Limpopo — tactile pieces that bring warmth to any table.

Textile Printing · Western Cape
Amahle Ndlovu
From a small studio near Cape Town, Amahle screen-prints fabrics using eco-friendly inks and motifs drawn from African botanical life. Her tea towels, napkins, and wraps are both functional and beautiful.
Behind every piece is a story of craft, heritage, and human skill.
